OSWEGO – The final installment of the Oswego Music Hall’s “Jazz by the Lake” spring season features the Jeff Stockham Quartet paying tribute to trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2 at the McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake St., Oswego.

“When a CNY jazz icon plays tribute to the king of ‘West Coast Cool,’ it is sure to be a magical evening of live music,” said Dave Kaspar, curator of “Jazz by the Lake.”

The group showcases trumpeter/vocalist Jeff Stockham, who performed previously at “Jazz by the Lake” with his group The Jazz Horn Legacy Sextet. He is a featured member of The Central New York Jazz Orchestra and also appears with other ensembles such as The Stock Market Swing Band. Stockham recently played on the SAMMY Award-winning record of The Ripcords.

Keyboardist Barry Blumenthal is a true multi-instrumentalist playing keys, trumpet, flugelhorn and violin. He currently is a featured member of The Salt City Jazz Collective and The Latin Groove Connection.

Bassist Tom Brigandi is a member of The Central New York Jazz Orchestra and has his own group, Tom Brigandi’s Jazz Bass and Beyond. He also spent time with the late great Chuck Mangione’s Band touring nationally.

Drummer Jimmy Johns is one of the most sought-after musicians in CNY. His trio has played a 20-year-plus residency at Pastabilities in Syracuse. As both a drummer and vibraphonist, Johns has delighted audiences across New York State.

The Jeff Stockham Quartet show is made possible through the Oswego Music Hall’s Guest Curator program, in which new programs that represent demographics and artistic genres not typical in Music Hall programming are introduced outside the regular concert series.

Ticket prices range from $17 to $20. Admission is $10 for SUNY Oswego students with ID, half-price for children aged 6 to 16 and free for those aged 5 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at any concert, online, or at the river’s end bookstore in Oswego. The community is encouraged to buy tickets early to ensure a seat.

Located in the McCrobie Building, the wheelchair accessible venue is adjacent to Breitbeck Park and overlooks Lake Ontario and the Oswego harbor. The atmosphere is intimate with candle-lit tables surrounding a small stage. Light refreshments will be available at reasonable prices.
