OSWEGO – In recognition of International Women’s Day the Oswego Music Hall has partnered with Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) to host an evening of outstanding music and valuable information of importance to all women.
“Our vision with the Women in Music show is to highlight and recognize women,” said Oswego Music Hall Artistic Director, Tom Lambert. “With the many programs that OCO provides for women, OCO is the perfect partner for this special night.”
The Oswego Music Hall’s Women in Music show will be held March 8th at the McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake Street in Oswego. The evening begins as a Meet & Greet reception at 6:30 p.m. During the Meet & Greet, representatives from OCO’s programs such as Services to Aid Families (SAF), Cancer Services, Reproductive Health, and OPTIONS will be on hand to discuss the services available through these programs as well as volunteer opportunities at OCO.
“We’re proud to be a part of the Oswego Music Hall’s Women in Music show,” said OCO Development Director Bridget Dolbear. “In addition to raising awareness of OCO’s programs we will be accepting donations of women’s personal hygiene products, and other toiletries during the meet and greet reception. These contributions will help ensure access to essential needs for women and girls in our community.”
Following the meet and greet, the evening continues with performances from Crys Matthews and The Nields.
A troubadour of truth, Nashville resident Crys Matthews is among the brightest stars of the new generation of social justice music-makers. An award-winning, prolific lyricist and composer, Matthews blends Country, Americana, Folk, Blues, and Bluegrass into a bold, complex performance steeped in traditional melodies punctuated by honest, original lyrics.
The Nields, a folk-rock band from Massachusetts, blend pop craftsmanship, folk sensibility, and the influences of ’60s classic rock and ’90s alternative, to create a distinctive musical style that defies categorization. They will be performing songs from their new album, Circle of Days, a collection of songs that serve as a testament to the band’s enduring creativity and unwavering commitment to their craft. Apple Music describes their sound as “equal parts The Beatles, the Cranberries, and Joni Mitchell,” a testament to their unique fusion of melodic sensibilities.
“We invite you to join us for an evening of entertainment and information as we salute International Women’s Day with our Women in Music showcase,” added Lambert.
Located at the McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake Street in Oswego, Oswego Music Hall’s programs offer Oswego and the Greater Central New York community exposure to top quality touring musicians, singers and songwriters of many genres. The Oswego Music Hall helps support artists and music not typically heard in the mainstream media, and encourages the development of emerging artists in the community.
