Oswego Music Hall Transformed: An immersive night of Music, Movement and Mindfulness

OSWEGO – The Oswego Music Hall invites the community to step out of the traditional concert mode and onto a yoga mat for Music, Movement and Mindfulness, a uniquely curated evening of restorative sound and soul-centering practice.

On May 2, the Music Hall will trade its classic cabaret seating for an intimate, informal space designed for deep connection and relaxation. The event features a collaborative performance by Juno-nominated artist Desirée Dawson and acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Travis Knapp, curated by yoga instructor Ann Buchau.

“We hope to inspire and connect people beyond the yoga studio or the traditional music venue,” Buchau said. “This is about creating an environment where sound and song can truly permeate the body and mind.”

The experience requires no special skills or flexibility. The evening begins at 7 pm (doors open at 6:30) with gentle movement led by Buchau of Citya Studios. These accessible stretches are designed to open the body and clear the mind in preparation for a deeper way of listening. Participants will then be guided into a supported restorative pose or a comfortable seated position to settle into a state of mindfulness.

The musical journey features the ethereal, earthy harmonies of Dawson and Knapp. Dawson, known for her powerful yet soothing voice and baritone ukulele, brings a blend of folk, soul and pop that emphasizes collective healing. She is joined by Central New York’s Knapp, whose

mesmerizing clawhammer banjo and piano arrangements are rooted in a deep respect for the land and community.
