Players Present Harper Lee Classic

OSWEGO, NY – When Harper Lee’s classic novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” was published in 1960, it became an instant success; winning a Pulitzer Prize.

The story is loosely based on an actual event that occurred near Lee’s hometown in 1936 when she was just 10 years old.

Bobby Fontana, director, and Norman Berlin III, assistant director for the show, are to be lauded for once again bringing to the forefront the powerful issues and emotions this story encompasses.

“Mockingbird” has been both embraced and attacked for addressing the very sensitive topics of rape and racial inequality.

The myriad roles are just the sort actors can get their teeth into – challenging and packed with opportunities for dramatic expression.

Accepting these unique challenges are Wayne Mosher, Madeline Reister, Will Bandla, Troy Pepper, Quinn Etchie, Shana White, Kelly and Peter Mahan, Beverly and Ashley Murtha, Marsha Preston, Richard Mosher, Larry Rose, Hunter Schaffer, Scott Bandla, Kyle Walton, Paul Steffens and Sherod Laliveres.

Steven Mahan will be supplying backstage voices.

“Mockingbird” is slated to open April 8 at 8 p.m. with additional performances April 9, 8 p.m.; April  15 and 16, 8 p.m.; April 17 at 2 p.m.
