Players To Present ‘Witness’

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Players is preparing its 2012 season opening of Dame Agatha Christie’s very popular and probing courtroom drama, “The Witness for the Prosecution.”

Inez Manor Parker holds the directing reins tightly as she puts her cast through their paces for a late February opening.

Christie adapted the play based upon her short story of the same title, and spun a mesmerizing tale that will have the audience members on the very edge of their seats.

The play opened in London on Oct. 28, 1953, at the Winter Garden Theatre, and its appeal has thrilled audiences to this day.

Christie takes the audience into the Old Bailey during an exciting murder trial.  From there, the suspense rises with the questioning of each witness.

Critics have observed that the play has all the usual elements of counsel in conflict, agonized outbreak in the dock, and back-answers from the witness-box.

That it has endured through the years is a testament to Christie’s writing genius.

Under Parker’s direction, the large cast of Sherri Baker, Nelson Metz, Marsha Preston, Zane Leo, Jacob Behr, Steve Standish, Bobby Fontana, Julia Preston Fulton, Chris Bixler, Jenny Snow, Ed Lewis, Kelly Mahan, Knate Roy and Norman Berlin, III will be developing their characterizations, actions and reactions for utmost audience enjoyment.
