OSWEGO – Lighthouse Lanes teamed up with Oswego Players to host a Christmas Ticket Giveaway for the upcoming production of “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus.” This partnership between two fixtures of local entertainment was brought about when Kristen Hoefer of Lighthouse Lanes wanted to spread holiday cheer while supporting the arts within our community.
Two lucky winners were drawn on Thursday, December 5th. Kelley Potter of Oswego and Kathleen Falise of Granby each received two free tickets for the classic holiday favorite.Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus is presented under the direction of Jennifer Hitchcock, who originally brought the show to the stage of the Frances Marion Brown in 2016. Written by Andrew J. Fernady, the play is inspired by the true, simple, poignant letter written in 1897 by 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon to the editor of the New York Sun, “Dear Editor, I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says if you see it in the Sun, it’s so. Please tell me the truth. Is there a Santa Claus?”
Potter, a frequent patron of the theater, says she is “thrilled” and “will call immediately to reserve her seats” as tickets are selling fast. The production will run onstage on weekends, December 6th to 15th, at the Frances Marion Brown Theater in Fort Ontario, Oswego, NY. Reservations are available at oswegoplayers.org or by phone at 315-343-5138.
