OSWEGO, NY – At 1:17 a.m. today (May 11) the Oswego Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 215 Duer St. on the east side of the city.
First arriving crews reported a fully involved structure fire with heavy smoke and flames.
The fire was reported by a neighbor.
About 15 minutes into the incident all interior crews were pulled from the structure due to deteriorating conditions.
“This two-story woodframe construction house got a good head start on the first arriving crews and despite their efforts we had to pull them from the house. Heavy fire spread as well as the integrity of the house were a major concern, as well as the power line to the house which had popped off and was live on the ground,” said Jeff McCrobie, fire chief. “Our crews are still on the scene as well as the City of Oswego Cause and Origin Team has begun its investigation.”
