Fulton Speedway Points Battles Coming Down The Home Stretch; Big Block Modifieds Return

FULTON, NY – Even though the season seems like it just started, we are now down to the final five point races to decide the 2014 Track Champions at the Fulton Speedway.

August 2 Regional Truck & Trailer present a night of fast, affordable, family fun. On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, NAPA Late Models, A-Verdi Storage Containers 305 Sprints, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, Hilton’s Automotive Four Cylinders plus a visit from the Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club.

After a week off, the Big Block Modifieds return to the ‘High Banks’. With two feature wins, Larry Wight sits atop the point standings with a 30-point lead over Jimmy Phelps. Top-Five in the standings – Larry Wight (510) – Jimmy Phelps (480) – Billy Decker (460) – Robbie Bellinger (438) – Pat Ward (430).

The SUNY Canton Sportsman continue to impress with their racing and car counts. Coming into Saturday 56 drivers have signed into the pits to compete this season. To date there has been 10 different feature winners in 12 events run on the ‘High Banks’. Here is the top-five in the standings. Beth Schneider who is on a two race win streak (520) – Ron Davis III (505) – Mike Button (504) – Tony Finch III (461) – Corey Barker (443).

This coming Saturday, will be the make up the Power Seal Asphalt Sealing Sportsman Dash for Cash we did not run July 26. The starting line-up determined by the top 2 in each heat will be as follows: 1. Jeremy Pitcher, 2. Chris Hulsizer, 3. Nick Webb, 4. Jordan Bennett, 5. Gregg Kimball, 6. Corey Barker, 7. Tony Finch II, 6. Mike Button.

Tim Sears Jr. continued his impressive 2014 season with his Seventh feature win last Saturday in the NAPA Late Models. Tim Sears Jr. (644) – AJ Kingsley (592) – Rick Miller (458) – Brandon Ford (450) – Johnny Hill (374).

A season high 12 A-Verdi Storage Containers 305 Sprints signed in the pits a week ago for the new division. In their feature track regular John Cunningham was the class of the field strongly out running track regulars and outside invaders.

Jon Shumway brought out his new car last Saturday in the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman and put it in victory lane after the top-two finishers were light on the scales in the post-race weigh in.

For the third week in a row Chuck Powelczyk and Tim Dunn put on a tough and extremely entertaining Hilton’s Automotive Four Cylinder feature that saw Powelczyk grab the narrow win. Adult grandstand admission will on Saturday will be $12 with everyone 18 years old and younger free. Pit admission is $27 participant/$30 non-participant. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
