Hannibal students displayed musical talents at the Dennis M. Kenney Middle School seventh and eighth grade band and chorus concert.
The seventh and eighth grade band, directed by Robert Sherwood, played popular hits like “Forget You” as recorded by Cee Lo Green, “Spongebob Squarepants” by Mark Harrison and “Thriller” as recorded by Michael Jackson.
Perhaps the most interesting piece played by the band was “Particles” by Michael Sweeney.
This unique composition symbolizes the transformation of matter from solid to liquid to vapor.
There were some aleatoric sections in the music, which allowed the students to use their imaginations compose specific sections themselves.
The middle school chorus, directed by Jeff Sawyer, impressed the audience with songs like “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen and “Fireflies” by Adam Young.
They sang “Brave” by Sara Bareilles and Jack Antonoff, which featured soloists Faith Smith, Hannah Heald, Keysha Ayala, Brianna Simmons, Courtney Bullock and Angel Wilber.
