A Hannibal teenager already on probation has been charged with felony burglary for the break-in at Terry’s Food Mart in Cato.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department alleges that Dylan J. Blake, 17, of 335 Church St. Apt. A, Hannibal, and Mykel V. Canales, 18, of 37 Green St., Port Byron broke into the store on July 15 at 1:26 a.m.
The department says it found Blake and Canales after members of the public saw surveillance photos of the burglary in the media and provided tips.
Both young men are on probation for prior crimes.
Bail for Blake was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. Canales’ bond was set at $20,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
Canales, his brother Fabriciano, 16, and an unnamed juvenile were charged earlier this month with burglarizing a storage building behind a store in Port Byron.
Police are also investigating the burglary of the Cato Diner, near the burglarized Food Mart, but no arrests have been made.
