Head Start Pre-K Accepting Applications

Oswego County Head Start Pre-K continues to accept applications for September.

The program enrolls three- and four-year-old children and is provided at no cost to families.

Students from Oswego County Head Start Pre-K’s Williamstown Center had a visit from Altmar Elementary Principal Denise Penoyer. During her visit, she read the class a story and talked with them about kindergarten. The  children were then able to ask questions.

Head Start’s goal is to promote school readiness through hands-on learning, active play, and nutritious meals and snacks.

Family involvement is strongly encouraged.

Parents have a central role in the program as partners in the educational process.

There are opportunities to be involved in parent committees, volunteer in the classrooms, as part of program development, and attending workshops.

A program of OCO, Head Start Pre-K has eight centers located throughout Oswego County and enrolls children from all nine county school districts.

Applications are accepted year round with waiting lists maintained for openings that may occur.
