A pinning and recognition ceremony was held in early June to honor high school students completing the Nursing Assistant program at Oswego County BOCES (OCB).
One of nineteen Career and Technical Education programs offered at OCB, the Nursing Assistant program combines classroom theory with work-based learning opportunities to provide students with the skills needed to obtain the New York State Nurse Aide Certification.
Students in the program gain first-hand knowledge about the nursing profession through clinical experiences in area hospitals and long-term care facilities and were honored for their hard work and dedication to educational excellence at the ceremony.
Lead Instructor Lori Giverson and RN Clinical Instructors Karen Friot, and Patricia Brancato presented each honoree with a Cadusa pin during the ceremony and then as confirmation of their completion of the program the honorees recited the traditional oath taken by new nurses called the Nightingale Pledge.
