The John C. Birdlebough High School Guidance Department will host an informational session on the topic of paying for college on Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. in the in the high school auditorium.
Kathy Flaherty, the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at SUNY Oswego will present information about the types and sources of financial aid available to undergraduate students and familiarize attendees with how to complete the FAFSA and TAP forms.
She will also provide information on how to access grants, loans or work-study options, all of which may help defray the cost of attending college or other accredited program.
Becoming acquainted with the various sources of financial assistance and understanding the processes and deadlines for applying will assure the timely submission of appropriate forms and greatly enhance the probability of receiving financial aid.
College bound students in the Phoenix Central School District, and their parents or guardians, should make a special point of attending to receive information about this very important topic.
Wendy Dunnigan, the president of the Phoenix Chapter of Dollars for Scholars will also conduct a brief presentation during the informational session about this year’s revised scholarship application process and deadlines.
