Kindergarten Registration at the APW School District

The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District is accepting kindergarten registrations for the upcoming 2012 – 2013 school year.

Children entering kindergarten in September 2012 must be five years of age before December 1, 2012, but parents may wait until the child is six years of age before entering the child in school.

To register a child for kindergarten, parents will need to provide the child’s birth certificate, proof of immunizations and a completed physical examination form.

The physical exam must be administered no more than 12 months prior to the commencement of school; anytime after September 6, 2011, is acceptable.

Arrangements can be made to have a free physical done by the school district after the start of school in September, please mention this to school district officials during the kindergarten screening appointments slated to take place May 15, 16, and 17 and the current APW Middle School.

In addition, new legislation now requires a Dental Health Certificate for children entering kindergarten.

The Dental Health Certificate must contain a report of a comprehensive dental examination.

If your child does not already have a signed certificate, this can also be discussed at the screening appointment.

An informational packet about the APW kindergarten program has been mailed to parents of eligible school-age children within the APW School District.

If you did not receive a packet or are new to the APW School District, contact Altmar Elementary School at (315) 625-5260 or Parish Elementary School at 625-5270.
