Oswego, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s basketball team took a 74-60 conference win over Fredonia on Friday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium. Oswego’s win pushed its record to 3-1 in the SUNYAC and 9-2 overall.
Rashawn Powell’s layup with 12:52 remaining in the first half gave the Lakers a 10-8 lead, an advantage they would never relinquish. The Blue Devils kept the game competitive throughout the first half, with Oswego heading to the break with a 31-28 lead.
Oswego had no problem pushing its lead to double-digits multiple times in the second half, eventually winning the contest by the largest lead it had all game, 14 points.
For the third-straight game, Powell completed a double-double, this time with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.Daniel Ross led the Lakers on offense, scoring a team-high 21 points. Brian Sortino drained eight field goals for 20 points. Sortino and Ross combined to shoot 17-for-30 (56.7%) from the field.
Oswego will be back on the hardwood at 4 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Buffalo State.
