Laker Men’s Soccer Earns 6th Seed Despite Loss Saturday

CORTLAND, NY – Oswego State men’s soccer team lost a 4-0 contest against Cortland on Saturday afternoon at Jets Field.

The Lakers drop to 4-10-2 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play.

Cortland improves to 12-3-, 7-1-1.

Despite the loss, Oswego nabbed the No. 6 seed in next week’s SUNYAC Championship and will face No. 3-seeded Brockport on the road.

The game will be played on Nov. 1 with a time that has yet to be determined.

Although Oswego went scoreless, the Lakers challenged the Red Dragons with 16, only five less than Cortland’s 21.

Senior Zack Saccocio and freshman Connor Lunduski led the team with four shots each.

Saccocio nearly put Oswego on the scoreboard in the 39th minute, but his shot hooked past the right post.

Junior goalkeeper Todd Lawson collected two saves for the Lakers.

Oswego still has one game remaining in its regular season as it will host Canton at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

The game will also be the Lakers’ Senior Day.
