Laker Softball Season Ends

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State softball team (17-20) saw its season come to an end after falling to No. 3-seed Plattsburgh (24-15), 8-0 in five innings, in an elimination game of the SUNYAC Softball Tournament on Friday.

The Cardinals got out to a quick start by putting up three runs on four hits in the first and tacked on three more runs in the fourth after doubles from Brittany Marshall and Brianna Clarke to go ahead 6-0.

Plattsburgh’s Kristin Nabor led off the fifth with a triple followed by Kerry McCarty getting hit by a pitch. McCarty moved into scoring position after a stolen base. Samantha Tenney then delivered a two-RBI single to end the game as the Cardinals were ahead 8-0.

Oswego State struggled to get hits with Plattsburgh’s Ashley Marshall in the circle, as the Lakers managed just two hits.

Alexis Nasca (Fr., Hamburg, N.Y.) picked up the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. Sarah Thayer (Sr., Winthrop, N.Y.) gave up two runs on two hits in relief.
