OSWEGO – On April 29, 2026, at approximately 2:48 PM, members of the Oswego Police Department were dispatched to 12 Governor Street to assist emergency medical services, who were treating a patient for injuries sustained during an altercation.
Upon arrival, patrol units contacted a male who reported that an altercation had occurred in front of the residence, but that all involved parties had already fled the scene. Officers began canvassing the area to locate those involved.
While this investigation was ongoing, a patrol officer was approached by occupants of a vehicle who reported that another altercation might be occurring at the same location, after officers had cleared the scene to continue the investigation. Officers immediately returned to 12 Governor Street, where they located a victim suffering from severe lacerations to the face. A preliminary investigation determined that a male and female were responsible for the assault. Through further investigation, the suspects were identified as Kyle Hilton, 39, and Sandra Walts, 30, both of Oswego.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Oswego Police initiated an extensive search for Hilton and Walts, who were subsequently located and taken into custody without further incident. Continued investigation revealed that, in addition to the initial victim, two other individuals had also sustained lacerations from a knife during the first incident at 12 Governor Street.
As a result of the investigation, Kyle Hilton was charged with the following offenses:
- Assault in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Class D Felonies
- Assault in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony Sandra Walts was charged with the following offenses:
- Assault in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony
Hilton and Walts were arraigned in Oswego City Court on the morning of April 30, 2026, and were both remanded to the Oswego County Jail.
This investigation remains open and ongoing, and additional charges are anticipated.
