Saturday’s fundraising dance to benefit Hannibal’s Music Boosters organization will also serve as a tribute to its former leader, who died this week in an industrial accident.

Ed “Skeeter” Carvey suffered fatal injuries Tuesday when a machine fell on him at Novelis in Scriba, according to officials.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.

Carvey, 46, had served a year as president of the music booster organization, which was formed to raise money to try to prevent deeper cuts to Hannibal’s school music programs.

Calling hours for Carvey will run from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Foster Funeral Home in Fulton.

As his calling hours end, the booster club’s fundraiser will begin at Lakeview Lanes.

Admission to the party is free. There will be raffles, 50/50s, prize boards and contests to raise money for the group.  The Hannibal-based band Anybody’s Guess will provide music for dancing.

An official of the group says they will honor Carvey’s memory at the event.
