Immediately and lasting into 2012, visit the Oswego Public Library to see the wonderful work of Michele Southgate in our lower level galleries by the Community Room and Computer Lab. Charlie Young, Library Trustee, says, “We are pleased to have Michele displaying her art work in our Gallery during this holiday season. Her art would be a unique, and welcome, gift.” Michele works in collage, calligraphy, mixed media, and watercolor creating works of exceptional vibrancy and beauty.

Michele Southgate majored in Fine Arts at Manhattanville College and went on to teach Art at Oswego Middle School. Upon retiring she decided to concentrate on creating a body of work she would be proud to exhibit and sell. Her work has been juried into shows all over North Central New York and received awards at Fulton Art Association, Salmon River Fine Art Center, Art Association of Oswego, Old Forge Art Center, and the New York State Fair. She is a founding member of Lakeside Artisans, the former Executive Director of Arts and Culture for Oswego County, and a past president of the Art Association of Oswego. Oswego has many individual artisans and a thriving non-profit arts presence. Lakeside Artisans fulfills the need for a retail gallery space.
