OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 68 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.

There are 606 active cases today.

Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang reminds residents that flu season is also upon us.

“We had two lab-confirmed flu reports in recent weeks,” Huang said. “If you haven’t done so already, it’s time to get your flu shot. It’s not too late. Flu vaccination is especially important this year as we are seeing drastically increased cases of COVID-19 now. The flu vaccine can help prevent the flu or reduce the severity of its symptoms which, in turn, will reduce hospitalizations for the disease and help protect our health care system which is already overburdened with the coronavirus pandemic.”

Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup added that the coronavirus is rampant throughout the county and we all need to work together to help prevent the spread of the disease.

“Please take personal responsibility for your behaviors to keep yourselves, your families and your community safe,” Weatherup said. “Follow the advice of the Health Department, practice preventative measures and comply with isolation and quarantine rules to help us all get on the other side of this.”

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County: (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s.
