OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 90 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and there have been three additional deaths since Saturday, December 19.
New cases Sunday: 42
New cases today: 48
Today there are 620 active cases across the county.
“In addition to the ever-increasing number of people in Oswego County who are becoming infected with COVID, we are sad to report today that we have lost three more of our residents to COVID-19,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “I would like to express our condolences to their families and friends.”
Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup emphasizes that the coronavirus is rampant throughout the county and we all need to work together to help prevent the spread of the disease.
“Please take personal responsibility for your behaviors to keep yourselves, your families and your community safe,” Weatherup said. “Follow the advice of the Health Department, practice preventative measures and comply with isolation and quarantine rules to help us all get on the other side of this.”
Officials are also urging people to get their flu shots if they haven’t already done so.
“We are seeing continuous and rapid increases in COVID cases, and the virus is stressing our health care resources. Getting a flu shot is more important than ever in Oswego County,” Weatherup said.
Today’s statistics are below:
Oswego County: (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
