OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 58 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.

Today there are 534 active cases across the county.

SUNY Oswego reported no cases today.

Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang implores residents to practice preventative measures and comply with isolation and quarantine rules.

“I cannot say this more urgently,” Huang said. “It is simply not safe for people of different households to get together – even if they are from the same family. It does not matter the reason. Whether it’s a birthday party, kids’ sleepover, holiday gathering or dinner – social gatherings are a major factor in spreading the coronavirus.”

Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup reminded residents to do their part to stop the spread of COVID-19.

“We must all work together to prevent this pandemic from becoming dramatically worse,” Weatherup said. “Please take personal responsibility for your behaviors and protect yourselves, your families and your communities from this rampant disease.”

Today’s statistics are below:

Oswego County: (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.

  1. Still not a single mention of having retailers sanitize or control the flow and number of people in the store! Gee and the cases keep going up. Acess to testing is very limited in locations and amounts per day. Parents still taking their kids to travel sporting events and cases still skyrocking. Still people not being told to wear masks at Walmart nor are they being asked to leave when they dont. I think the health department needs to recognize it is more than just living room transmission.

  2. I know, imagine the gall of people of Oswego actually practicing their constitutional rights to travel freely and spend time with their families. Oswego county has had 5 Covid deaths since last March so either it’s not as deadly of a flu as we’re being led to believe or we have a unbiased Medical Examiner who is not politically corrupted as most are. Every death is not caused by Covid, but if you die with Covid its listed as a Covid death, pure insanity. As soon as they attached a payoff to this disease every county and state jumped on the payoff merry-go-round. Protect the elderly and infirmed and open this country back up.
