OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 25 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and one more county resident has died since yesterday.

“This marks the 87th death of one of our neighbors. I would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of this patient,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang.

As the Oswego County Health Department continues to monitor COVID-19 activities in the county, Huang said, “Despite this new loss, we have noticed that both hospitalization rates and deaths are down in the past two weeks or more. The number of new positive cases in the daily reports are also drastically reduced.”

The Oswego County Health Department has partnered with Pulaski Urgent Care to arrange for free COVID-19 rapid testing in Oswego on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Pulaski Urgent Care will bring its mobile unit and provide COVID tests at a drive-through clinic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Oswego High School, 2 Buccaneer Blvd.

Appointments are required in advance. To register, visit this link or call the Oswego County COVID-19 hotline at 315-349-3330. The hotline is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The hotline will be closed Monday, Feb. 15, for Presidents’ Day.

Those being tested should wear a mask to the clinic, arrive on time, and remain in their vehicle until they have the test result.

Note – The county will not be releasing the COVID-19 numbers on Monday due to the holiday, so there will be no Statistics Update for that day. The numbers from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be included in Tuesday’s report.

Notes: The total number of positive cases in Oswego County is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.

SUNY Oswego reset its numbers for the Winter/Spring 2021 semesters and does not include numbers from Aug. 12, 2020 to Jan. 1, 2021. Total cases reported include 184 past positive cases (experienced during the winter break: Nov. 2020 –Jan. 2021) of students residing off-campus, who were required to provide evidence of positive test results and recovery upon returning to campus.
