OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m., there have been 35 additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and one more county resident has died since yesterday.
“This marks the 82nd neighbor we’ve lost,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “Every death is an unfortunate development in our efforts to fight this virus and something that we never want to see. I would like to express our condolences to the family and friends of this patient.”
He added, “I urge our residents to remain diligent in these preventative measures. Wear a face mask, social distance, wash your hands frequently and avoid non-essential gatherings. These protocols are essential to reducing the spread of the virus and preventing future deaths.”
The Oswego County Health Department is also partnering with Pulaski Urgent Care to bring free COVID-19 rapid testing to various locations around the county. The first stop for the mobile unit will be at the Cayuga Community College campus, 11 River Glen Dr., Fulton. It runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Registration is required. Notes: The total number of positive cases in Oswego County is cumulative since March and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers. SUNY Oswego cases are included in the county numbers, however, the county tracks only those living in Oswego County. That means that students who chose to leave and go back to their home county and test positive there will be included on the college’s dashboard, but not the county’s. Their positive result would be reported to their home county, not here.
SUNY Oswego reset its numbers for the Winter/Spring 2021 semesters and does not include numbers from Aug. 12, 2020 to Jan. 1, 2021.

Parents of atusent athletes start demanding Oswego County change their stance on no spectators at games. Onondaga County which had and has way more active cases are allowing 2 spectators per athlete to watch. If they can we should be able to as well. If there was no major report of spread from Buffalo Bill’s playoff games then clearly it should be fine. As usual this health department is a day late, a dollar short and run clearly by self serving people who don’t real care about moving forward from covid.
