OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m. today, there has been one additional case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since Saturday, June 6. The cumulative reported number is 111 cases across the county and of those, 98 have recovered and three have died.
Oswego County and Upstate University have joined forces once again to bring drive-thru COVID-19 testing to county residents. The mobile unit will be at the Pulaski High School, located at 4624 Salina Street, next Thursday, June 11 between 10 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.
Today’s statistics are below.
Oswego County: (as of 3 p.m.) Note, the total number of positive cases is cumulative and the number of recoveries and deaths are of those numbers.
- Total # of active cases: 10 (June 6: 9)
- Total # of positive cases: 111 (June 6: 110)
- Total recoveries: 98 (June 6: 97)
- Total # of deaths: 3 (no change since yesterday)
- Total # people tested: 9,286 (June 6: 8,302)
- Total # of negative results: 9,047 (June 6: 8,072)
- Total # of people in mandatory isolation/quarantine: 47 (June 6: 54)
- Total # of positive antibody tests: 32 (as of June 4)
- Total # of negative antibody tests: 1,389 (as of June 4)
Note – The Oswego County Health Department only released the information on the total number of positive cases and deaths June 6.
Antibody test results will be released once a week.
The county has stopped releasing data for pending results, number of people in precautionary quarantine and total number completed/released from monitoring. Data will not be released on Sundays.
All known contacts of COVID-19 positive patients are being notified. In the event that a known case had public exposure when they were contagious, such as someone who worked in a restaurant, the county health department would alert citizens through the news media and social media.

COVID-19 has been identified in the cities of Fulton and Oswego and the towns of Boylston, Constantia, Granby, Hastings, Mexico, Minetto, New Haven, Orwell, Oswego, Palermo, Parish, Redfield, Richland, Sandy Creek, Schroeppel, Scriba, Volney, West Monroe and Williamstown.
The county does not release the town/city of individual cases. If there has been a new case and a new area has not been added, that means it is in an area that has already been affected before. Once an area is added it is not removed from the list because the county does not say when a town/city no longer has a case.
New York: (as of yesterday)
- Total # of positive cases: 378,799 (June 6: 377,316)
- Total # of deaths: 24,299 (June 6: 24,212)
Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday signed legislation (S.8130-D/A.10516-A) extending the deadline to submit absentee ballots until the day of the election.
To be counted, primary ballots must be postmarked by June 23. The governor previously issued Executive Orders allowing all New Yorkers to vote absentee in the June 23 primary elections and ensuring every New Yorker registered to vote receives a postage-paid absentee ballot application in the mail.
Cuomo also announced he will issue an Executive Order extending the deadline for school districts to receive school budget ballots. To be counted, school budget ballots can be accepted by hand delivery through 5 p.m. on June 9 and received by mail through June 16 by the school district.

Other updates from the state include:
- New York City, Long Island, and Mid-Hudson Valley Regions are in phase one of the state’s regional phased reopening plan; Capital Region, Western New York, Central New York, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, North Country, and Southern Tier are in phase two.
- Governor Cuomo is urging all protesters to get a covid test. Find a test site near you.
- Socially distanced graduations of up to 150 people will be allowed beginning June 26.
- Places of worship will be permitted to reopen with 25% occupancy with all social distancing protocols in place during phase two of reopening.
- Schools will be permitted to hold drive-in and drive-through graduation ceremonies this year; the Department of Health released interim guidance for these ceremonies.
- Medical schools statewide will be allowed to reopen on June 22.
- Governor Cuomo announced the implementation of a new early warning dashboard to monitor and review how the virus is being contained on an ongoing basis.
- Governor Cuomo released a guide to the state’s “NY Forward Reopening” Plan, along with the state’s regional monitoring dashboard.
- The $100M New York Forward Loan Fund will provide loans to small businesses, focusing on minority and women owned small businesses, that did not receive federal COVID-19 assistance.
- The New York State sales tax filing deadline has been extended to June 22, 2020.
- Governor Cuomo issued executive orders 202.17 and 202.18 requiring all people in New York to wear masks or face coverings in public, including when taking public or private transportation or riding in for-hire vehicles.
- New Yorkers without health insurance can apply through NY State of Health through June 15, 2020; must apply within 60 days of losing coverage.
- Health care workers can text NYFRONTLINE to 741-741 to access 24/7 emotional support services.
- New Yorkers can call the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline at 1-844-863-9314 for mental health counseling.
- Testing is free for all eligible New Yorkers as ordered by a health care provider.
