City of Fulton, NY Proclaims September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Fulton Police Department to Display Yellow Ribbons on All Vehicles

FULTON – September 16, 2024 – At the most recent council meeting, Mayor James Rice proclaimed September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Fulton, joining a nationwide effort to raise awareness and support for the fight against childhood cancer. Due to the history of fundraising for childhood cancer awareness, Police Chief Michael Curtis accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Fulton Police Department and the Fulton Police Benevolent Association.

In honor of this important cause, the Fulton Police Department will display yellow ribbons on all police vehicles throughout the remainder of September.

This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to supporting children and families affected by cancer and highlights the need for continued research and funding to improve treatment and outcomes. The yellow ribbon symbolizes hope and solidarity, and its presence on police vehicles will serve as a visible reminder of the community’s dedication to this cause.

“By participating in Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we aim to bring attention to the critical need for research and support for affected families,” said Mayor Rice. Chief Curtis added “Our police officers proudly display these yellow ribbons as a symbol of our collective hope and commitment to fighting childhood cancer.”

The Fulton Police Department encourages residents to show their support by wearing yellow, participating in local awareness events, and spreading information about childhood cancer. Together, we can make a significant impact and provide hope for those affected.
