City of Fulton To Host Swearing In Ceremony Of New Mayor And Council Members.

FULTON – On New Year’s Day at 12:00 pm, the City of Fulton, ( at 141 South 1st Street) will be hosting a swearing in ceremony for incoming Mayor Jim Rice (D) and the six members of the City Council in the 2nd floor chambers.

Returning to the Council are Doug Chapman (R) – 2nd Ward, Don Patrick (D) – 3rd Ward, and Audrey Avery (R) – 5th Ward. Newly elected Councilman Jeff Cobb (R) was sworn in earlier this month to immediately fill the months long vacancy in the 4th Ward seat.

Michael Farnharm (R) – 1st Ward and Ryan Taylor (D) – 6th Ward will be taking their oaths of office for the first time.

Later in the day, the Council will hold its first meeting of 2024. Expected to be on the agenda are: the formation of a new DRI Committee, new City Attorney, new board and commission appointments, designation of an official newspaper and possibly more.

Oswego County Surrogate Court Judge Spencer Luddington will be swearing in the new Mayor and the Councilors. Mayor – Elect Rice is the first Democrat in two decades to win the election for the City’s top position. He previously served as a member of the Common Council representing the 2nd ward.

After a short address by Mayor Rice welcoming the new administration, there will be light refreshments served in the Community Room immediately afterwards.
