Crews Investigate Cause of House Fire in Volney

VOLNEY, NY – Investigators with the county’s Cause and Origin Team are on the scene this morning of a house fire that started Monday evening in the town of Volney.

The fire was reported to the Oswego County E-911 center at approximately 9:13 p.m. Emergency crews responded within minutes to 492 Rowlee Road.

“The house was unoccupied,” a 911 spokesperson said.

Crews Volney, Phoenix, Palermo and New Haven responded to the blaze. The fire was reported “knocked down” at 9:59 p.m.

“The one-story structure was totaled,” the spokesperson said, citing information from a Volney fire department lieutenant. Because the roof caved in, firefighters battled the fire only from the exterior of the structure.

No injuries were reported. According to Oswego County’s Real Property Tax Office, the property is owned by William Battles and Kara O’Neil.
