
Fulton’s celebration of “Music in Our Schools Month” begins Thursday with opening night for the play “Damn Yankees” at the G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium.
Quirk’s Players will put on the classic Broadway musical Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a 2:00 p.m. Saturday matinee.
Every musical group in the district will perform during the month:
- The high school jazz bands hold a concert March 15 at 7:30 p.m.;
- The Volney Elementary School band and orchestra perform at the Syracuse Crunch game March 16;
- The high school choruses perform March 19 at 7:30;
- Lanigan Elementary holds a schoolwide concert at 6:30 p.m. March 20;
- Volney Elementary holds a schoolwide concert at 6:30 p.m. March 20;
- Granby Elementary holds a schoolwide concert at 6:30 p.m. March 21;
- Fairgrieve Elementary holds a schoolwide concert at 6:30 p.m. March 22;
- The high school bands hold a concert at 7:30 p.m. March 22;
- The Junior and Senior High All-County Orchestra Festival will be held at G. Ray Bodley March 23 and 24;
- Fulton Junior High holds its 7th grade concert at 6:30 p.m. and its 8th grade concert at 8:00 p.m. March 28;
- The high school orchestras hold a concert March 29 at 7:30 p.m.
The district’s music facilitator, Debra Farden, said that more than 1,500 students will perform during the month. “It’s a great showcase,” she said.
