Former Patients of Dr. Dilip Roy: Finding a New Physician

Dr. Dilip K. Roy

FULTON, NY – Many patients have unexpectedly needed to switch physicians after Dr. Dilip K. Roy of Fastcare Family Medical in Fulton was arrested earlier this year for rape in the third degree, and later arrested again on separate charges of forcible touching and sexual abuse in the third degree from allegations of another former patient.

After the NYS Department of Health investigation deemed Dr. Roy an imminent threat to his patients, he surrendered his license to practice medicine in the state of New York based on the inability to defend against at least two of the factual allegations of negligance.

For this reason, FastCare Family Medical has been closed permanently and many patients of this facility and of Dr. Dilip Roy have been left without a primary care physician and unsure of the next steps in the process of seeing a new doctor.

According to the New York State Department of Health, “New York State Law gives patients and other health care providers access to medical records. A request for medical records should be made to either the physician’s office or the health care facility.

Patients of Dr. Roy who have questions about accessing their medical records may contact the DOH’s Access to Patient Information Program at 1-800-663-6114.”

When calling Dr. Roy’s business line at FastCare Family Medical, a message system announces that the office has permanently closed and gives a similar message to that of the Department of Health in regards to accessing medical records.

“For your medical records, you will need to complete a medical release form and mail it to 941 S. First St., Fulton, NY 13069. Please make sure you have filled in your name, date of birth, address and phone number, you have signed the bottom, and you have your new provider’s name address phone number and fax filled in as well,” the message said.

In regards to finding a new physician the NYS Department of Health said, “For help finding another provider, patients may wish to consult the NYS Physician Profile, which can be viewed here: http://www.nydoctorprofile.com/ or contact the County Medical Society and/or their health plan for a list of qualified health care providers in their area.”

Dr. Roy is scheduled to appear in court again on December 11.
