Friends of History Host Focus Groups

FULTON, NY – The local historical society is hoping to turn a slate of discussions into better services at Fulton’s history museum, the John Wells Pratt House.

The Friends of History in Fulton, N.Y., Inc., has started a series of focus group discussions to come up with ideas for its operations.

“We are looking at ways to improve what we do and reach out more to the public,” said Sarah Conley, co-president of the Friends group. “We are looking at how people perceive us and trying to find ways to bring more people through the door.”

Conley said that the group met this past week for one discussion. Another focus group session is planned for this week.

“We are looking at how we can make the best use of our volunteers and thinking about activities that will interest people in the community,” Conley said.

“Basically right now we are getting people together and knocking around ideas,” she added. “We are doing a lot of listening. … We have been going along the same path but we are ready to try to make some changes and try new things.”

While the sessions are not public at this time, Conley said it is possible they will be in the future. She noted, however, that suggestions from the public are welcomed.

The John Wells Pratt House is located at 177 So. First St., Fulton. Friends of History members can be reached by calling 598-4616 or by e-mail at [email protected]. missing or outdated ad config
