FULTON – The Fulton City Council convened Tuesday, February 17th, for a meeting marked by light attendance.
All but one resolution on the evening’s agenda passed. The council unanimously rejected a proposed amendment to the city code that would have defined setbacks for business buildings from the property line.
Meanwhile, Councilor Sherman registered a dissenting vote against changes to housing maintenance and rental permit regulations. Sherman has previously voiced, arguing that such measures could create an anti-business climate in Fulton.
Looking ahead, the council announced a public hearing scheduled for March 3rd to discuss proposed budget legislation. Residents are encouraged to attend and share their input on the city’s financial planning for the upcoming year.
(16 Minutes) Tensions briefly flared during the public comment period, when an argument broke out between Mrs. Rodgers and Councilor Iorio regarding comments made at the February 3rd meeting and subsequent remarks on Facebook. President Campolieta intervened, suggesting the council develop guidelines for posting public events on the city’s website to avoid future misunderstandings.
After the meeting, President Campolieta expressed satisfaction with the council’s recent legislative efforts, highlighting ongoing work to improve parks and recreation in Fulton. “We have an active council, and I’m pleased with the legislation we’ve passed. We’re working hard to make the city better,” she said.
