FULTON – May 9th, 2024, During The Fulton Common Council Meeting Tuesday evening, the council honored Jim Farfaglia, a true visionary and leader who has dedicated his life to the betterment of the community. Farfaglia’s extensive contributions and lifelong dedication were recognized with the 2024 New York State Recreation and Parks Society Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor a Parks and Recreation professional in New York State can receive.
Farfaglia’s spirit of commitment and passion has been a driving force in his role at Camp Hollis, where he has devoted over three decades of service to creating unforgettable experiences for countless children and families. His dedication to preserving our heritage and fostering community connections led him to establish the Friends of Camp Hollis nonprofit organization, which advocates tirelessly for the preservation and enhancement of the camp.
Beyond his work at Camp Hollis, Farfaglia has enriched the cultural tapestry of Fulton and Oswego County with over a dozen books dedicated to preserving the rich history and heritage of the community. He also undertook the admirable task of reviving the Fulton Garden Club in 2023, which not only beautifies the city but also fosters community engagement and pride. The club’s efforts now care for 30% of city gardens, earning national recognition from MRP for their impactful contributions.
Farfaglia’s selfless commitment to service knows no bounds, as evidenced by his extensive volunteer work with numerous community nonprofits. His unparalleled contributions and lifelong dedication have earned him the respect and admiration of the entire community.
