FULTON, NY – The Fulton District wide Storytelling Festival was held recently showcasing the top storytellers from all six schools in the district.
Participants told a folktale, fairytale, myth, legend, tall tale or fable.
The caliber of students featured in the festival has increased to a point where it is no longer a competition at this level and instead is held as a festival to celebrate all storytellers.
Students competed for the honor to represent their schools by progressing through from the classroom and grade level competition to the building level and then advance to the District Festival.
The goals of the storytelling program are to increase self-esteem, develop poise and confidence in public speaking, enhance listening and memorization skills, strengthen language development and heighten the student’s appreciation of literature.
