Fulton McDonalds Gets Cozy for Christmas

FULTON, NY – For more than 15 years, the Fulton McDonalds restaurant has completely transformed into a themed holiday masterpiece for the month of December as part of an annual holiday decorating competition.

This year, the restaurant located at 701 S. Fourth St. became a “cozy Christmas cabin,” a theme thought of and brought to life entirely by restaurant staff.

“Each manager is assigned an area of the store,” said general manager, Jodie Bobbett, and from there the entire restaurant, front to back and top to bottom, is made to fit the theme.

KJ McCann of the Fulton McDonalds created a family of reindeer for the restaurant’s holiday decorating contest.

Miraculously, it took just four days for the transformation that earned the restaurant an overall tie for first place.

The contest is a stiff competition between ten McDonald’s restaurants in the CNY area: Fulton, Pulaski, Mexico, Brewerton, Central Square, Baldwinsville, Warners, Dewitt, Nedrow, and Cicero, all of which are owned by Paul Ross.

Looking to defend their winning title for last year’s “winter wonderland” theme, this year’s crew didn’t take the challenge lightly.

The display, unable to be described thoroughly enough by words alone, covered nearly every inch of the restaurant beginning outside, working its way through the lobby, and all the way to the crew room in the back of the store where Santa was found catching a quick nap by the fire.

“It’s all about the details,” Bobbett said. “It’s amazing the talent this crew has, some that I didn’t even know about.”

Owner Paul Ross toured all ten locations to announce the winner, a two-way tie between Fulton and Mexico.

Rita Bogardus of the Fulton McDonalds crew transformed the drink station into a “cozy Christmas cabin.”

The ever sought after Santa trophy remains in Fulton where it had been the past year after the crew’s win last December.

However, both first place locations will receive the other part of the winnings, a $250 cash prize.

“We always do a fun outing, a bowling party with the whole crew every year. They have a lot of fun,” Bobbett said.

With their immense detail, tireless effort, and winning record, it’s no secret that the Fulton McDonald’s crew wholeheartedly enjoys their yearly challenge to bring the holiday spirit to their customers.

“That’s what it’s really about, the customers love it. They come in and they know it’s going to be decorated so they’re just waiting to see how it’s going to turn out. It just makes people feel better when they come in here and see all of this, and we love that,” Bobbett said.
