FULTON – Fulton resident and creator of the RO Bucket, Carl Nylen has made a time and energy saving technology available for small to midsize maple operations nationwide; a proven method used by large-scale maple syrup producers in increasing efficiency and reducing the energy cost of processing maple sap into maple syrup.
Nylen came up with the idea while boiling sap in the traditional manner, knowing that there had to be a better way to create the sugary treat using less boiling time and less fuel to complete the process.
Nylen’s product, The RO Bucket, utilizes Reverse Osmosis membranes (RO) to remove most of the water from the raw sap, producing a concentrate that can be reduced to syrup more quickly.
Nylen began assembling the products in his Fulton basement, with the business quickly growing to the point that he is considering constructing an addition to the large garage that he is currently using as a production facility.
