HANNIBAL, NY – On Friday June 21, Hannibal High School’s senior class gathered in the school’s auditorium surrounded by family and friends for their graduation ceremony.
“This is certainly an important day for all of us,” said Superintendent Donna Fountain before asking the graduating class to give their parents a round of applause for their support over the years.
David Wilbert, Hannibal Alumni Class of 2001, was the guest speaker at the event.
He encouraged the students to do what they love.
“Here’s my advice to you,” said Wilbert. “Be successful, follow your heart, and take risks.”
Wilbert also told the graduates there will be many ups and downs ahead, but to always learn from their failures.
Speeches from Class President Ryan Perry, Salutatorian Adrienne Shortslef and Valedictorian Taylor Beckwith followed.
Each expressed their gratitude to their family, friends, and teachers who’ve followed them on their journey through high school.
“It’s hard to believe it’s all over,” said Beckwith. “We’re not the children we were when we started this journey.”
As each of the students walked across the stage to receive his or her diploma the reminder from their superintendent walked with them.
“Warrior pride never dies,” said Fountain. “Good luck!”
