OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is sponsoring a training class this summer for new members to the City and County Youth Court programs.
Middle school and high school students who are entering grades seven through twelve can apply.
“Youth Court hears real cases of youthful offenders who are referred by local law enforcement agencies or schools for first-time minor offenses,†said Brian Chetney, Youth Court coordinator for the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. “Students are trained to become judges, defense attorneys, prosecuting attorneys and court clerks. Members conduct hearings related to these cases and decide on the outcome and punishment for each case.â€ÂÂ
Training will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 7 through 11, in the Common Council Chambers, Oswego City Hall, 13 W. Oneida St.

The deadline to register is July 3.
Students can mail their completed forms to Oswego Youth Court, c/o Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, 70 Bunner St., Oswego, 13126.
