Mannion Honors Three Fcsd Students With A Presidential Scholar Nomination

FULTON – Three Fulton seniors were recently nominated for the Presidential Scholars Program, a prestigious national recognition sponsored annually by the White House. Each were additionally honored with the local Youth Leadership Award from the office of Senator John Mannion, which recognized their achievements both in and out of the classroom.

Each September, the New York State Education Department asks elected officials to submit three seniors from their districts for consideration – one male, one female, and one Career and Technical Education student. School district leaders assist in the original nomination process and local finalists are then forwarded on to New York State and possible national recognition.

Eleven local districts submitted candidates to Mannion’s office, though only three students were submitted to the state. In an effort to ensure all 33 submitted students received proper recognition, Mannion created the Youth Leadership Award to honor those who were nominated. All were given the award at a recent ceremony held at the Oswego Public Library.

Fulton nominees included Dawson Krause, Zoey Kerr, and Abigail Miner – all exemplary seniors with achievements in both academics and the broader community.

“We’ve very proud of them,” said Fulton Superintendent Brian Pulvino. “It’s wonderful how well they represent our district.” missing or outdated ad config
