Tommy Merritt wasn’t on the street for very long.
Hours after a judge reduced his bail on a charge of having sexual contact with a child younger than 13, Fulton Police re-arrested him overnight on a new child sex charge.
The new charge alleges Merritt had sexual intercourse with a child younger than 15.
He’s charged with three felony counts of criminal sex act and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Fulton City Court Judge Spencer Ludington sent Merritt back to jail on bail of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
Merritt is due back in court September 1.
Merritt was freed earlier in the day when a judge reduced his bail on the original charge to $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Police say they’re continuing to look for others who feel they have have been abused by Merritt, a well-known martial arts instructor who operated Precision Tae Kwan Do. People with information should call the Fulton Police Department at 598-4504.
