Residents of the City of Fulton can come in and visit with the mayor – no need for an appointment.

FULTON – City of Fulton Mayor James Rice held the first Open Lines on Friday, February 16. Five residents of the city took advantage of the opportunity to just walk in and chat with the mayor one-on-one.

The Mayor said that “While the response has been a little slow to the Open Lines Friday program so far (the second week was last Friday), I look forward to seeing more of the public as time goes on and word spreads. Our doors are always open and I invite Fulton City residents to come in and visit with their concerns.”

Open Lines Friday was implemented to encourage residents of the City to just walk in – no appointment needed – to voice concerns or just meet the mayor.

The mayor isn’t just available on Fridays – he is in the office Monday through Friday and often on weekends. Many residents have remarked on the accessibility of the mayor, who often answers the phone or greets visitors as they come in the door.

The mayor’s office has been consistently busy since the mayor was sworn in on January 1. Many residents have made appointments or just stopped by to bring matters of concern to the mayor’s attention. And he wants everyone to know that he is available and willing to help.

Many of the issues that the office has dealt with concern code enforcement – which has been an ongoing issue in the city and is a primary focus of the office. In addition, the office is the hub for many committees and boards that now meet in the Mayor’s Conference Room with the participation of the mayor and his staff.

Mayor Rice would like to remind City of Fulton residents that he is ready and willing to sit with them to work through their concerns about the city and their neighborhoods.

The Mayor’s Office is officially open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open lines Friday goes from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.

But don’t be surprised if you see the mayor at the office on a weekend.
