Oswego Industries Receives $500 Donation From Stewart’s Shops

The donation has made more outings possible for people supported by Oswego Industries, such as this trip to Green Lakes State Park.

FULTON – Oswego Industries Inc., a Fulton-based nonprofit agency that supports adults with developmental disabilities, has received a generous donation of $500 in the form of fuel cards from Stewart’s Shops.

The agency was provided the grant to enable Direct Support Professionals and other critical support staff to travel to and from the homes of people with disabilities in the local community.

“During this crisis, we have had to think quickly to ensure the people we support receive much needed services while staying safe,” said Alissa Viscome, associate executive director of program for the agency. “Stewart’s Shops’ generous donation has helped our staff accomplish that.”

Stewart’s Shops is committed to growing strong communities. Its donation to Oswego Industries has helped make sure everyone can safely participate in our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Lockdown activities have included exploring local parks, writing encouraging messages to local nursing home residents, and other pursuits designed to maintain our community’s strength and resilience.

For over 50 years, Oswego Industries has provided services and supports for adults with disabilities while partnering with local businesses to deliver production and workforce solutions. Its mission is to be a partner in the development of comprehensive community services designed to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, by providing the necessary support programs to enable individuals to grow with dignity and achieve their highest level of independence and self-fulfillment. Person-centered services include pre-vocational and vocational training, supported employment and day habilitation programs. Its sister agency, The Arc of Oswego County, provides services to children and seniors with disabilities: together, they create a comprehensive support system for Oswego County residents with disabilities.
