Pending Autopsy Results, Police Quiet On Details of Child’s Death

FULTON, NY – The details of the investigation into the death of a 15-month old are still under wraps at this point as police await the results of an autopsy that is being performed today by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner.

In a short release issued early this morning, police announced that they were investigating the death of the toddler, which occurred Monday evening. Police also said that an autopsy was scheduled. This afternoon, few additional details were available.

Deputy Chief Thomas Abelgore said that the case began at approximately 8 p.m., Monday evening.

“This started as an EMS call for an unresponsive child,” Abelgore said this afternoon.

Medical personnel were dispatched and the child was transported to the hospital. Police later became involved.

Abelgore said that no one is in custody at this time.

“We don’t even know that a crime has been committed,” he said.

Police have conducted interviews into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. The investigation continues and any further action hinges on the medical examiner‘s findings.

“Without anything definitive from medical personnel, we are holding off on making any kind of judgment,” Abelgore said.
