Police Charge Fulton Man After Brief Search

Submitted by the Fulton City Police Department

FULTON, NY – At 9:36 a.m. Tuesday, Fulton police responded to a call at 236 Oneida St. for a report of a man that pointed a shotgun at another resident of the house and threatened to shoot them.

On police arrival, it was learned that there had been a domestic dispute with the complainant and in the presence of two children. The residents of the house were evacuated as it was believed that the suspect, 48-year-old Michael H. Jachimek, was in a rear bedroom of the house.

Neighboring residents were also evacuated for precautionary purposes, police said. Further investigation found that Jachimek had possibly fled the house out a rear door.

With the assistance of the Fulton Police K-9, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol, a perimeter was established. A check of buildings at the rear of the property found Jachimek hiding in a garage adjacent to the residence.

Jachimek was taken into custody without further incident. An unloaded Remington 870 Express 12 gauge shotgun was recovered inside the residence.

Jachimek was charged with

  • Second-degree menacing, a class-A misdemeanor
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class-A misdemeanor
  • Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class-A misdemeanor
  • Two counts of second-degree harassment, a violation

Jachimek was arraigned by Fulton City Court Judge Ludington and remanded to the Oswego County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
