OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Health Department is reminding residents to use a certified bulk water hauler for their potable water needs.
“It may be late in the season, but there are still people using bulk water,†said Natalie Roy, associate public health sanitarian for the Oswego County Health Department. “This is water intended for human consumption and transported by tank trucks. Haulers must be certified by the New York State Department of Health to sell or deliver bulk water.â€ÂÂ
Bulk haulers are required to submit documentation to the state health department to obtain certification.
The process includes an application, water quality analysis and verification that the water source, transportation vehicles and sanitation procedures meet the minimum standards.
This certification is good for one year.
All bulk water sources, storage facilities and transfer equipment are regulated in New York State.
