School Board To Conduct Budget Public Hearing Monday

OSWEGO, NY – At its meeting this week, the Oswego School Board named two new principals, moved an assistant principal to a new position and scheduled a public hearing.

A public hearing for the revote of the 2008-09 budget in the Oswego City School District is scheduled for Monday.

It will get under way at 6 p.m. in the board room of the Education Center, 120 E. First St.

The proposed budget was defeated on May 20.

The Oswego City School District Board of Education, after lengthy discussion, decided to place a reworked budget before the voters on June 17.

Voting will be from noon until 9 p.m.

Voting will be conducted at the regular polling places throughout the district.

There are seven sites in the city of Oswego and one each in Minetto, Oswego Town and Scriba.

Donna Simmons, the interim principal at Minetto Elementary, was appointed principal, effective July 1, for a three-year probationary period.

She will earn $80,628.

Roseann Bayne was also appointed as an elementary school principal.

She will commence her duties as of July 1, with a three-year probationary period as well.

She will earn $80,628.

The board also appointed Tim Moon as the director of AIS / Data Management.

Moon, currently the assistant principal at Oswego Middle School, will begin his new duties on Aug. 1, for a three-year probationary period.

  1. I am sure that the $80,000 title of “AIS / Data Management” will be an excellent use of my tax dollars. THANK YOU Mrs. Tiballi and Mr. Fischer for finding even more administrative positions to create! What is our administrator to student ratio now? Ten administrators to every student?

    This is nothing against Mr. Moon who I think does a good job but now Fischer created a new position, and Moon’s old position will have to be refilled. Does it ever end in the OCSD?
