National Weather Service Issues Lake Effect Snow Warning Sunday At 4 A.M. Through Monday At 4 A.M.

OSWEGO COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Oswego County beginning at 4 a.m. Sunday, November 20, through 4 a.m. Monday, November 21.

NWS warns that heavy lake effect snow expected with total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 feet in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will produce areas of blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.

NWS Forecast (Oswego County Airport, Fulton): Updated Sunday at 7:25 a.m.

Sunday: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Areas of blowing snow. High near 31. Breezy, with a west wind 21 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible.
Sunday Night: Snow before 1am, then snow showers likely, mainly between 1am and 5am. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Areas of blowing snow before 10pm. Low around 22. Northwest wind 7 to 17 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
Monday: A slight chance of snow showers before 7am, then a chance of rain showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a south wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Monday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 2am, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 41. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
