Pennellville, N.Y. – Late at night on April 8, the Bowering Family Farm burned down, killing 60 cows, 10 pigs and countless poultry animals. Now, they are trying to rebuild and reestablish their lives on the family farm.

Luckily, no human beings were hurt in the fire, but the farmer did not have insurance on the barn, animals, supplies or equipment that were lost. The amount of community outreach has been extremely astonishing and appreciated.

Twelve volunteer fire departments came to battle the blaze which took hours to put out. Neighbors and family members came from miles around to help corral loose animals and offer support. The community has helped raise over $25,000 for the family, who are still unsure on how they plan to rebuild.

The number of people and local businesses who have donated dumpsters, homemade food, hay, a place for the animals to stay, milking machines and just themselves has been humbling. Thanks to all of their generosity, the Bowering’s were able to clean up what is left of the barn in a short amount of time.

If anyone from the community would like to help the family reestablish the only way life they have ever known, a GoFundMe page has been established to help them. https://www.gofundme.com/f/bowering-farm-total-loss

The family would like to stress how grateful they truly are for everything the community has done for them during this difficult time.
