Committee OK’s Requests For Vehicles, Travel

OSWEGO, NY – The Administrative Services Committee breezed through a light agenda Monday evening.

Mike Smith, DPW commissioner, requested authorization for the purchasing agent to buy two 10-wheel plow/sander trucks, one large open wheel loader and one backhoe with hydraulic breaker and trailer.

The funding will come from the NYS Regional Economic Development Program Grant, he explained.

The committee sent the resolution to the full council for consideration.

Mike Riley, purchasing agent, requested approval of a proposal ($315,000) submitted by GHD Consulting Engineers for design phase and bid phase services for the West Side Sewer Separation Project (phase one).

All projects listed on the EFC 2010 Intended Use Plan need to be advanced in order to receive full benefit of the $4,000,000 principal forgiveness.

The committee gave the request a favorable recommendation.

The committee also approved a request by Mike Dehm, police chief, to send two officers to a three-day police training in Montour Falls that pertains to fire arson investigation in-service training program on Nov. 3-5.

Tony Leotta, city engineer, requested authorization to transfer funds from Account G9140.0420 (Utilities – WSWTP) in the amount of $25,000 into Account G8140.0440 (Contracted Services – WSWTP) to cover the cost of laboratory testing, sludge disposal, sludge hauling etc.

The committee sent the request to the full council for consideration.

The Planning and Development Committee voted on just one issue this week.

Earlier this month, Barb Sugar, city clerk, received a petition from Erin Sherwood for a change of zone on Pond Path from an R-4 Residential 4 District to an R-2 Residential 2 District.

The committee took no action on the matter at its Oct. 4 meeeting, opting to get more information.
